An adventure at 3000 meters featuring steaming craters, lava tunnels, and breathtaking views of Mount Etna.
One of the most exciting alternatives to the summit craters is our trek to 3000 meters, offering a unique opportunity to explore the geological and natural wonders of the southern summit area of Mount Etna.
With the Etna cable car, we will ascend to 2500 meters, where our trek begins. Following the lava flow from the 2002 eruption, we will explore a captivating lava tunnel and the 2002 eruptive fracture, where warm vapors create a “natural hammam.” Continuing our ascent to 3000 meters, we will enjoy stunning views of the steaming summit craters, stretching as far as the Gulf of Taormina and the Madonie mountain range.
During the descent, we will visit the Barbagallo Craters (among the most remarkable lateral craters on Etna). A thrilling descent on lava sand will then lead us to the edge of the Valle del Bove, a vast volcanic depression where we will uncover the fascinating history of the volcano. From here, we will continue downhill to return to the cable car station at 2500 meters.
